About The Neurogenesis Project

What is The Neurogenesis Project?
The Neurogenesis Project is a premium destination brain health clinic located in the Golden Isles of Georgia. We specialize in intensive diagnostics, precision therapeutics, and cognitive optimization for executives, high-achievers, and families facing addiction. Our programs are led personally by a fellowship-trained neurologist and a nationally recognized neurocoach.
Who are your typical patients?
Our patients are typically executives, entrepreneurs, professionals, and families who want the highest caliber of brain care. Some come seeking cognitive optimization and protection against decline. Others come because a loved one is struggling with addiction and traditional rehab has failed. What they share is a refusal to accept mediocre outcomes for the most important organ in their body.
Where is the clinic located?
We are located in St. Marys, Georgia, in the beautiful Golden Isles region. Our destination setting was chosen intentionally — far from the distractions of daily life, in a healing environment optimized for focus, privacy, and neurological recovery. Many patients fly in from across the country for our intensive programs.
What makes you different from other neurology practices?
Three things set us apart: First, our neurologist holds advanced fellowship training in vascular, critical care, and interventional neurology — a rare combination that allows us to see what others miss. Second, we pair medical neurology with expert neurocoaching for a whole-brain approach. Third, our intensive format delivers months of care in days, with a level of attention and thoroughness that standard 15-minute appointments simply cannot match.

Qualification & Readiness

Am I a good fit for this program?
Our programs are designed for two groups: executives and high-achievers experiencing cognitive decline, brain fog, burnout, or memory loss — and individuals or families dealing with addiction and substance use disorders. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit. Whether you’re seeking rescue-level intervention or peak cognitive optimization, the program meets you where you are. The best way to find out is a confidential consultation.
Do I need to be sober before starting the program?
No. Active substance use is not a disqualifier. Unlike traditional rehab that often requires sobriety before admission, we understand that the brain dysfunction driving addiction is exactly what we’re here to treat. We can work with patients who are currently using — our evaluation and treatment protocol addresses the underlying neurological factors regardless of your current use status.
Who is not a good fit for this program?
We are not the right fit for individuals primarily seeking prescriptions for scheduled medications such as benzodiazepines, stimulants, or opioids. We are also not equipped for acute psychiatric emergencies requiring immediate inpatient stabilization. If you’re unsure, a consultation will help us determine together whether our approach is right for your situation — and if it’s not, we’ll do our best to point you in the right direction.
Can I travel from out of state or internationally for treatment?
Absolutely. We regularly treat patients from across the United States and internationally. Our intensive format was designed with traveling patients in mind — you fly in, complete your program over several days, and return home with a comprehensive plan and ongoing telehealth support. We suggest arriving the day before your protocol begins to settle in and enjoy the natural beauty of the Golden Isles region. We can also recommend nearby resort accommodations ranging from the Ritz-Carlton Amelia Island to comfortable local hotels.

Programs & Treatment

What does the Precision Evaluation include?
The Precision Evaluation is a comprehensive 3-day deep dive into your brain health. It includes an in-depth team meeting and intake evaluation, advanced neuroimaging, comprehensive biomarker testing, a full cognitive testing battery, and a Complete Brain Assessment Report. This evaluation gives us the data to build your personalized treatment protocol.
What happens during the Intensive Protocol?
The Intensive Protocol is a 3–5 day on-site treatment phase that may include IV Brain Boost therapy (NAD+), neurotherapeutic sessions, sleep restoration protocols, nutritional and metabolic optimization, stem cells, exosomes, and brain stimulation therapies. Every protocol is customized based on your Precision Evaluation results.
How long does the full program take?
The initial intensive phase takes approximately one week on-site, combining the Precision Evaluation and Intensive Protocol. After that, Sustained Care continues for 3–24 months through monthly clinical check-ins, biomarker-driven adjustments, telehealth visits, and optional in-person follow-ups. Most patients report meaningful cognitive improvement within 6 weeks.
Do you treat addiction?
Yes. Our Rescue From Rehab program treats addiction as the brain system malfunction it actually is — not a moral failure. We address damaged neural circuits, depleted neurochemistry, and loss of reward sensitivity using medical interventions that most rehab facilities don’t offer. If traditional rehab has failed your loved one, this may be the approach they need.
What conditions do you treat?
We treat a wide range of neurological and cognitive conditions including cognitive decline, brain fog, memory loss, executive burnout, chronic fatigue, neuroinflammation, traumatic brain injury (TBI), concussion recovery, addiction and substance use disorders, sleep disorders, anxiety and mood disorders with neurological components, and early-stage neurodegenerative conditions.
Do you treat specific neurological problems?
We commonly see people with Mild Cognitive Impairment and Dementia, Traumatic Brain Injury, Alcohol and Substance Use Disorders, Multiple Sclerosis, Migraine, Seizures, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Burnout, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Dystonia, Dysautonomia, Neuropathy, and more.
What kinds of symptoms do your patients present with?
Many of our patients are suffering symptoms that appear similar across many syndromes. Often, they will complain of fatigue, brain fog, sluggishness, forgetfulness, frank memory loss, headache, numbness, tingling, imbalance, vertigo, chronic pain, the effects of longstanding viral infections, and more. Getting to the bottom of the symptoms often requires lengthy questioning and testing, but we specialize in complex and difficult-to-solve problems.
How is your Rescue From Rehab program different from traditional rehab?
Traditional rehab treats addiction as a behavioral problem using group therapy, 12-step programs, and a one-size-fits-all 28-day timeline. We treat addiction as a brain system malfunction using precision neuroscience. Our program starts with advanced neuroimaging, genetic testing, and comprehensive biomarkers to understand exactly what’s happening in your brain. Then we apply targeted medical interventions — IV therapies, regenerative treatments, and personalized protocols — to address the root cause. And unlike rehab, we don’t stop after discharge: ongoing neurocoaching and telehealth ensure sustained recovery.
Can brain damage from addiction be reversed?
In many cases, yes. The brain possesses remarkable neuroplasticity — the ability to form new neural connections and repair damaged pathways. Our treatment protocol is specifically designed to harness this capability through targeted IV therapies (including NAD+), exosome and stem cell treatments, brain stimulation, and metabolic optimization. The degree and speed of recovery depends on factors including the duration and type of substance use, age, and overall health. Many of our patients experience measurable cognitive improvement within six weeks of treatment.
What happens after I complete the intensive program?
Your care doesn’t end when you leave St. Marys. Our Sustained Care phase continues for 3–24 months and includes monthly clinical check-ins, biomarker-driven treatment adjustments, telehealth and in-person visits, cognitive assessment tracking, and direct access to your neurocoach. This ongoing support is designed to sustain and build upon the gains made during your intensive — ensuring that your recovery isn’t a one-time event but a lasting transformation.

Science & Treatment

What is NAD+ IV therapy and how does it help the brain?
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in every living cell that is essential for cellular energy production, DNA repair, and neuronal health. As we age or experience chronic stress, substance use, or brain injury, NAD+ levels decline dramatically. Our IV NAD+ therapy delivers this critical molecule directly into the bloodstream, bypassing the digestive system for maximum bioavailability. Patients often report improved mental clarity, sustained energy, and reduced cravings — sometimes within the first few sessions.
What is exosome therapy and how does it support brain recovery?
Exosomes are nanoscale vesicles naturally released by cells that carry proteins, genetic material, and signaling molecules involved in cell-to-cell communication. In our clinical context, exosome therapy uses cell-derived signaling vesicles to promote neuroplasticity, reduce neuroinflammation, and support the brain’s natural repair mechanisms. Published research demonstrates that exosomes can cross the blood-brain barrier more effectively than whole-cell therapies, making them a promising tool for neurological recovery and regeneration.
What is brain mapping and how is it used in your program?
Brain mapping, also known as quantitative EEG (qEEG), is a non-invasive diagnostic tool that measures electrical activity across the brain’s surface. It creates a detailed map of brainwave patterns that reveals areas of overactivity, underactivity, or dysregulation. Combined with our advanced neuroimaging (MRI and PET/CT), brain mapping helps our team pinpoint exactly where your brain function deviates from optimal — guiding treatment decisions with precision rather than guesswork.
Is addiction a brain disease?
Yes, but we prefer a more precise framing: addiction is a brain system malfunction. The National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) recognizes addiction as a chronic disorder characterized by changes in brain circuits involved in reward, stress, and self-control. At The Neurogenesis Project, we go further — we identify the specific neural circuit damage, neurochemical depletion, and neuroinflammation driving each patient’s addiction using advanced diagnostics. This allows us to treat the root cause rather than just managing symptoms.
What is neuroinflammation and how does it affect behavior?
Neuroinflammation is chronic inflammation within the brain and central nervous system. It can be triggered by chronic stress, traumatic brain injury, substance use, poor sleep, metabolic dysfunction, and environmental toxins. When the brain is inflamed, it disrupts neurotransmitter signaling, impairs cognitive function, and contributes to anxiety, depression, brain fog, memory loss, and addiction. Our evaluation identifies neuroinflammation through advanced imaging and biomarkers, and our treatment protocols directly target it.
What is Reward Deficiency Syndrome?
Reward Deficiency Syndrome (RDS) is a neurological condition in which the brain’s reward circuitry is underactive, often due to genetic predisposition, chronic substance use, or prolonged stress. Individuals with this condition experience reduced dopamine signaling, which can manifest as chronic dissatisfaction, impulsivity, risk-taking, and vulnerability to addiction. Dr. Drew Edwards, our Chief Clinical Officer, is a nationally recognized expert in this field with over 250 peer-reviewed publications on the neurobiology of addictive disease and Reward Deficiency Syndrome.
What is a neurocoach?
A neurocoach is a clinician who combines neuroscience expertise with behavioral coaching to help patients translate medical treatment into lasting life change. At The Neurogenesis Project, our neurocoach Dr. Drew Edwards works alongside our neurologist to bridge the gap between brain biology and daily behavior — developing personalized strategies for mindset, habits, accountability, and self-transformation. It’s the critical piece that ensures your medical treatment produces real-world results.
What is a direct care model?
A direct care model means you contract directly with your physician rather than going through insurance intermediaries. This eliminates the bureaucratic delays, prior authorizations, and 15-minute appointment limitations that plague the conventional system. The result is extended, personalized access to your clinical team, faster care delivery, and treatment decisions driven by what’s best for you — not what an insurance company approves.
Do you offer Botulinum Toxin (Botox®, Dysport®, Xeomin®, Jeuveau®, and Daxxify®) in your practice?
Yes, we have more than 25 years of experience and offer both cosmetic and therapeutic use of all brands of Botulinum Toxin for different purposes. Cosmetic treatments may receive criticism for pandering to cultural standards of beauty; however, there is plenty of scientific literature showing that a naturally youthful, symmetric, pleasing appearance improves mood, reduces social anxiety, and translates to greater marketability. Therapeutic uses for neurological disorders include migraine, dystonia, blepharospasm, abdominal migraine, hyperhydrosis, spasmodic dysphonia, limb spasticity, and certain chronic pain syndromes. We have extensive expertise in all of these areas.

Pricing & Insurance

How much does the program cost?
Our program is structured in three phases: Phase 1 (Precision Evaluation) is $4,950, Phase 2 (Intensive Treatment Protocol) is $21,000, and Phase 3 (Weekly Maintenance Treatments) is $2,500. Enhancement therapies including exosomes, stem cells, and NAD+ infusions are available as add-ons. We believe in transparent pricing — there are no hidden fees.
Do you accept insurance?
We are not an in-network provider with insurance companies. However, commercial insurance may cover certain components of your care, such as neuroimaging and laboratory testing. We provide detailed documentation to help you seek reimbursement from your insurer. Financing plans are also available.
Is financing available?
Yes. We have partnered with Affirm to offer flexible monthly payment plans. You can check your eligibility in seconds at shop.neurogenesisproject.com with no impact to your credit score. Each phase of the program can be financed separately, so you can start with Phase 1 and add financing for subsequent phases as you progress.
How does the cost compare to traditional rehab?
A 30-day residential rehab program typically costs $20,000–$80,000, with relapse rates of 40–60% within the first year. Our Complete Program is $28,450 across all three phases and includes precision diagnostics, advanced therapies, and a personalized ongoing care plan designed to address the root neurological cause. When you factor in the cost of repeated rehab cycles, lost productivity, and continued suffering, a brain-first approach often represents a significantly better return on your investment. Affirm financing is available to spread costs into manageable monthly payments.

The Experience

What should I expect when I arrive?
From the moment you arrive, you will be treated as a priority. Your accommodations are arranged in advance — luxurious resort suites optimized for restorative sleep with high-quality bedding, blackout curtains, temperature control, and air filtration. Your schedule is structured but unhurried, allowing your brain the time it needs to be properly assessed and treated.
Is the program confidential?
Absolutely. Complete privacy is foundational to our practice. Our destination setting in the Golden Isles ensures you won’t encounter colleagues or acquaintances. All medical records are protected under HIPAA. Many of our patients are public figures, executives, and professionals for whom discretion is essential.
Can family members be involved?
Yes, and we encourage it — especially for addiction cases. Family involvement in the treatment process can be critical for sustained recovery. Dr. Edwards, our neurocoach, works directly with families to create frameworks of accountability and support that continue long after the intensive phase ends.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed. You can request a consultation directly through our website. The first step is a prospective patient interview where we determine whether our program is the right fit for your needs.

The NeuroEconomy

What is the NeuroEconomy?
The NeuroEconomy is a framework developed by The Neurogenesis Project that recognizes brain health as the foundation of personal and economic productivity. Just as a financial economy depends on the flow of capital, your personal economy — career performance, relationships, decision-making, creativity, and quality of life — depends entirely on the health and function of your brain. When your brain operates at its best, everything in your life improves. The NeuroEconomy is about making strategic investments in the organ that drives everything else.
How long does it take to see results from brain health treatment?
Most patients report meaningful improvement in cognitive clarity, energy, and emotional stability within six weeks of beginning treatment. However, the timeline varies based on your starting point. Patients in the Rescue or Recovery brain states may notice initial improvements during the intensive itself, while Optimization and Enhancement gains typically build over the first 3–6 months of sustained care. We track progress objectively through repeat cognitive assessments and biomarker panels.
